Crawfordsville man dies following fatal crash on U.S. 231

A Crawfordsville man was killed following a fatal car crash Monday morning.

According to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel were dispatched to U.S. 231 S. and Spring Road in Parkersburg at around 6:30 a.m. to a report of a collision involving a 2024 tri-axle dump truck and a 2026 GMC Sierra. Based on witness statements, the dump truck was heading north on U.S. 231 when the southbound GMC Sierra crossed the center line and into the northbound lane, causing both vehicles to collide. It is not known at this time what caused the GMC Sierra to cross into the oncoming lane. The collision forced both vehicles off the roadway and caused the dump truck to catch on fire.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, identified as 52-year-old Kyle A. Blaydes of Crawfordsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, identified as 55-year-old Kevin L. Archer of Crawfordsville, was uninjured.
