Crawfordsville High School’s marching band and guard are proud to present their show titled “La Luna” this season. This will be their first solo venture since 2016, and it’ll be their first solo Indiana State Fair appearance since 2008.
“The transition has been really good,” said band director Jon Tebbe. “The parents and school are supporting me. The kids are super motivated, and I cannot wait for them to perform next week at the Golden Lion Invitational”.
The Marching Athenians’ performance of La Luna is meant to be a representation of a long-distance relationship between friends and family, alongside its benefits and difficulties.
“No matter how far away someone we love is, we are always living under the same moon,” Tebbe explains.
WCDQ stopped by Crawfordsville High School as the Marching Athenians prepare to perform their show at a community preview on Friday, July 17, at 4:00 p.m. at the high school’s football field. Hear our interview with band director Jon Tebbe below.

Drum majors Amelia Wilkinson and Abby White also joined to talk about their experiences as first-time conductors for the marching band. Listen to the conversation below.

The Marching Athenians will have six upcoming performances of “La Luna” over the summer. Following the community preview on July 17 will be the 5th annual Golden Lion Invitational at North Montgomery High School on Thursday, July 23, at 9:14 p.m. They then perform at Muncie on Saturday, July 25, at 9:41 p.m.; Anderson on Friday, July 31, at 8:09 p.m.; Winchester on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 8:59 p.m.; and finally at the Indiana State Fair on Friday, Aug. 7, at 1:00 p.m.
