Linden Depot Museum announces completion of historic caboose restoration

The Linden Depot Museum announced in a press release its completion of exterior restoration of the historic Nickel Plate caboose. Featured prominently at the museum’s front entrance, the caboose serves as a unique artifact of a railway that has long since retired. The Nickel Plate Road stretched from Missouri to New York, where it operated from 1881 until 1964. Parts of the railroad remain on the property.

The museum will also soon host its annual Midwest Railroad Fair on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. General admission is $6, while museum members can enter at no charge. This year’s featured attraction will be its 1837 replica of a Norris 4-2-0 steam locomotive. Train rides will go for $8 per person. Seat reservations are encouraged and can be done so by calling 765-427-3630. A Johnny Cash tribute artist will be the evening’s entertainment, who according to the release, said that they once performed for members of the Cash family. A food vendor will also be on-site.

The Linden Depot Museum is located at 520 N. Main Street in Linden. To learn more, click or tap here.
