Property tax deadline approaching for Montgomery County residents

The Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office is reminding residents of the spring property tax deadline. The deadline for paying spring property taxes without penalty is Monday, May 11.

According to an informational packet, there are multiple ways spring property taxes can be paid. They are listed below.

Online. Payments can be made online by clicking or tapping here. This link can also be found on the county’s website under “Online Bill Pay”. A fee of 2.95% will be added on all debit, credit, PayPal, and Venmo transactions. Electronic check payments are charged with a minimum fee of $0.95.

By Phone. Payments can be made by phone at 1-855-276-8051. A valid parcel number is required.

In-Person. Payments can be made at the Montgomery County Government Center, which is located at 1580 Constitution Row in Crawfordsville. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Accepted forms of payment include cash, check, money order, or cashier’s check. Credit and debit card payments are no longer accepted in-person. The office will be closed on Tuesday, May 5, for Election Day.

Drop Box. A drop box can be found on the south side of the Government Center, which is checked multiple times daily. A clearly labeled envelope with identifying information is required.

Payment by Mail. Payments can be mailed to the Treasurer’s Office at 1580 Constitution Row, Crawfordsville, IN, 47933. A self-addressed, stamped envelope is required for receipt confirmation. It is encouraged to make mail payments as soon as possible.

    Local Banks. All local First Financial, Hoosier Heartland, and Tri-County bank branches can accept property tax payments. A payment coupon must be brought for proper processing.
