The Montgomery County Soil & Water Conservation District will host their 84th annual meeting on Tuesday, February 17th at the Stone Creek Lodge in Crawfordsville. The meeting provides a year-in-review that features networking; a catered dinner from Swick’s Kitchen and Emporium; a keynote presentation; and the awarding of the 2025 Conservationist of the Year.
This year’s keynote speaker will be broadcast meteorologist Chad Evans, a veteran in the industry who is the current owner/presenter of Chad Evans Weather LLC.
2025 was a big year for the district following their recognition by the Indiana Park & Recreation Association. Their work on the Brickyard Nature Park awarded them the Clark Ketchum Award of Excellence for that year. The project restored native biodiversity for the area by planting a prairie with the help of local fire departments; Purdue Extension; the Parks Department; and the USDA. Signage was also posted to help educate readers about the ecosystem of a prairie and its native plants and animals.
