The General Lew Wallace Study & Museum announced in a press release its return of Park Day for 2026. On Saturday, April 25, beginning at 9 a.m., history buffs, community leaders, and preservationists will aid in the maintenance and restoration of the grounds as part of the American Battlefield Trust’s annual event. Thousands of historic battlefields, museums, and monuments across the country will join the effort on this day. The study will be the only historical site in Indiana that’ll participate, making it a unique opportunity.
Volunteers are needed for painting, dividing perennials, raking leaves, picking up fallen limbs, setting up the picnic area, and other various needs. Each volunteer will receive a free tour of the study, which is located at 200 Wallace Ave. in Crawfordsville. Groups will meet-up in the Carriage House Interpretive Center on the grounds’ east side.
To learn more, reach the museum by phone at 765-362-5769 or by e-mail at dking@ben-hur.com.
