Matt and Rachel Stine, the owners of Oak Hill Tree Farm in Crawfordsville, received the Forward Thinker Award on Feb. 5. The award, which is presented by Farm Credit Mid-America, “recognizes young agricultural producers who demonstrate innovation; sound financial management; and a forward-looking vision for the future of agriculture”.
Both Purdue graduates, the couple own and operate the u-cut Christmas tree farm year-round, with over 20,000 trees being featured on the 1,400 acre plot located off Oak Hill Road. Seasonal pumpkins and grains are also grown at Oak Hill Tree Farm, making the fixture financially sustainable. School trips can be booked in the fall, featuring hands-on training, a play area, and a story book trail.
They had a chance to stop by the studio to discuss their operation and agriculture’s importance to Indiana’s economy. This is part of a celebration for Indiana Ag Week, which runs from Monday, March 16, to Saturday, March 21 this year. Listen to the full interview below.
