No injuries reported following fire at Lakeside Book Company

No injuries nor structural damage were reported following a fire at Lakeside Book Company Wednesday evening.

According to a release sent by the Crawfordsville Fire Department, firefighters arrived to a fire in the factory’s baler room at around 7:30 p.m. The majority of the flames were successfully extinguished with the help of Lakeside employees prior to the fire department’s arrival, however a separate fire was also on its rooftop collection system. One crew helped extinguish the fire in the baler room, while responders with ladder trucks were deployed to put out the fire on the roof.

“Due to the complexity of the rooftop collection system, crews conducted extensive overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment and prevent rekindling,” the statement said. “The fire was brought under control quickly”.

Crews were on-scene until around 11:00 p.m. The fire department thanked Lakeside employees for their assistance with putting out the flames.

The Crawfordsville Fire Department was assisted by the Montgomery County Central Communications Center, Crawfordsville Police Department, and the Lakeside Book Company maintenance team.
