Southmont School Corp. recognized with prestigious accreditation

South Montgomery Community School Corporation has officially earned International STEM Accreditation for all K–8 schools through STEM.org. According to their press release, this accreditation process verified their ability to deliver high-quality, future-focused STEM education experiences for students. Incoming Southmont High School principal Raymond Jones had a chance to talk with WCDQ Friday to discuss Southmont's direction next school year. Jones is currently Southmont's assistant principal, who's been in the role since 2023. His experience in education includes a tenure as a special education teacher for Fountain Central, and later a physical education teacher for Clinton Prairie. Applications for the Beverley Turner Servant-Leader Award will be closing soon. The prize is given each year by the Volunteers for Mental Health in Montgomery County (VMHMC) in honor of the iconic Southmont teacher.
