In 1968, Helen Keller, the prominent American author who became blind and deaf at a young age, dies at the age of 87 in her sleep. Her advocacy for disability rights inspired those with similar conditions to pursue an education. The Harvard graduate had written 14 books prior to her death.
In 2008, an accidental fire breaks out in Universal Studios Hollywood, destroying thousands of original video and audio archives.
