Linden Depot Museum announces completion of caboose restoration

The Linden Depot Museum announced in a press release its completion of exterior restoration of the historic Nickel Plate caboose. Featured prominently at the museum’s front entrance, the caboose serves as a unique artifact of a railway that has long since retired. The Nickel Plate Road stretched from Missouri to New York, where it operated from 1881 until 1964. Parts of the railroad remain on the property.

The museum will also soon host its annual Midwest Railroad Fair on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission, train rides, and food will be free of charge. This year’s featured attraction will be its 1837 replica of a Norris 4-2-0 steam locomotive. Seat reservations are required and can be made by calling 765-427-3630. A Johnny Cash tribute artist will be the evening’s entertainment, who according to the release, said that they once performed for members of the Cash family. A food vendor will also be on-site.
